Utan police have registered a complaint against a woman for allegedly extorting Rs 37,000 from a 25-year-old man by threatening to circulate his nude video on social media.
The young man has registered a complaint against the fraudster woman who tricked him into unclothing himself during a WhatsApp video call and recorded it.
The victim, who resides in Mumbai’s Bhayandar locality, told police that he got a call from an unknown woman in July. She started chatting with him and the two soon connected with each other and began communication on a daily basis.
On one of the calls, the woman asked the victim to go naked on a WhatsApp video call, and the man blindly trusted the fraudster with her request. The accused, on the other hand, recorded the entire video call. Post this incident, she started demanding Rs 50,000 from him, else threatened to circulate the explicit content if he did not pay her money.
In his complaint, the man alleged that he even received threats from another person who claimed to be a CBI
agent. The victim bargained for the amount to be reduced a bit. A deal was struck and the accused agreed on closing the matter by taking a sum of Rs 37,000 from the man.
As reported by TOI, the complainant mentioned that he had transferred the money to an e-wallet number that the woman had sent him. After giving Rs 37,000 to the extortionists, they started demanding for more. This prompted the man to approach local police for filing a complaint.
The police has registered a complaint on charges of cheating, extortion, and criminal intimidation against the two unidentified people.

The man trusted her blindly and got naked on the video call, however the woman disconnected the call after a while and switched off her mobile. On July 12, 2020, he received a call from an unidentified person stating that he had his nude video and would upload it on the internet if he failed to pay a sum of Rs 22,000.
The man ended up filing a complaint with the cybercrime police when the ransom was demanded.

In yet other similar story from Mumbai, a woman who called herself as Pragya on social media, allegedly demanded Rs 20,000 from a man. The woman first went naked on a video call which lasted for 3 seconds. She then requested the 21-year-old graphic designer to go nude on their video call and recorded it without the man knowing about the same. Pragya later used the clip to extort money for him.
After the call ended, the man received a message from the woman threatening him to pay Rs 20,000, or else she would make the clip viral with his family and friends. The man filed a complaint with the police when the woman demanded more money.
