Live-in relationships are increasing in India and we are not going to be judgemental about the same. However, several couples are approaching court for protection, where one of the two is married. Courts have been reasonable in many cases by rejecting the same, while in some they have allowed protection against life.
In yet another case reported, this time from Jodhpur, Rajasthan, a woman approached court and seeked protection to live-in with her partner. However, she lied to the court that she was unmarried.
Nemichand got married to a woman in February 2020. In July this year, his wife approached court and asked for protection in favour of her live-in relationship with another man. However, the woman lied to court that she was married.
Later, the accused wife left her husband’s home taking along jewelry worth Rs 2.10 lakh. The husband then registered a case against her for cheating and robbery.
According to Sitaram Khoja, investigation in-charge, Nemichand had filed a complaint against his wife for eloping with her paramour Dudharam Bhadu. Husband also accused his wife of taking away jewelry from his home and being in a live-in relationship with another man, while he was already married to her. Khoja said,
The woman herself approached Rajasthan High Court on July 2 demanding protection for herself and her lover. However, she did not inform the court that she was already married. Infact, after investigation, we learnt that her paramour too, who is in the business of coaching, was a married man and also had a child with his wife.
The police has registered a case against the accused and start investigating the matter.
