Bengaluru police cracked the mysterious death of a businessman whose death had been passed off as cardiac arrest. An anonymous letter hinting at a possible murder helped the cops in resolving the mystery behind the death of 52-year-old deceased – Mohammad Hanjala.
It was learnt that the man was killed by three contract killers who had been hired by his wife and son.
The deceased was an owner of a footwear manufacturing unit in the city. His wife and son had given supari of Rs 4.5 lakh to three people to murder him. The police have recovered three mobile phones and Rs 98,000 from the three contract killers.
As reported by TOI, the mother-son duo chose to have killed Hanjala because he used to allegedly cast aspersions on the wife’s character and had suspicious behaviour towards his daughters.
The accused wife, Sarvari Begum and accused son Rehman told the police that domestic disputes were also one of the reasons for his elimination. Begum then asked Rehman to contact the killers. However, on February 10, they told the neighbours that Hanjala had died of cardiac arrest, after which his final rites were conducted at the Tigalarapalya cemetery on the same day.
Now, almost a month later, the police received an anonymous letter stating that Hanjala was murdered, after which they initiated a probe in which it was revealed that the mother-son duo had hired people to kill him. It was said that the ‘gang’ had however decided that they would kill him without resorting to violence. So, on the night of February 9, Hanjala was served dinner mixed with six sleeping pills.
On February 10, at 3:30 am, the gang then smothered him to death with the help of a pillow. Reports suggest that three suspects were arrested on Sunday while two were arrested on Monday. All have now confessed to their crime.
