Cases where women get married for immigrating to a foreign land by taking money from husbands on pretext of education, and then cutting off ties with them are increasing by the day. In some cases police are able to trace such con women, while in others they go scot free because men never file official complaints as they are threatened back with false dowry harassment or false domestic violence cases.
Here’s one such case from Moga where the police have finally registered a case against the accused wife, 11-months after the husband approached with his complaint.
Devinder Singh, son of Gursavek Singh, a resident of Daudhar Saraki village, married Harjashanpreet Kaur, daughter of Sukhwinder Singh of Mandiyani village of Ludhiana in August 2018.
Just three days after their wedding, the wife moved to Canada. However, her attitude changed completely towards her husband, as soon as she arrived in the foreign land. Ten days after she reached there, when Devinder tried to contact her, his wife asked him not to call her again, else she threatened to register a case against him.
Husband Filed Case
Singh then registered a case of cheating against his wife and in-laws, where he was duped of Rs 31 lakh on account of wife’s education after marriage.
The actual case should have been filed on March 11, 2020, when Devinder had approached the cops with a written complaint at Badhanikalam, Moga’s police station. However, the FIR has been filed against wife and in-laws only now, 11-months later.
