A young man from Jalandhar, Punjab shot himself dead on Sunday night in Texas, USA. The man was reportedly in depression after he suffered problems in his marital life. He was also undergoing divorce where they were ongoing discussions of division of property between husband and wife.
Husband’s family has accused their son’s wife to be responsible for his untimely death and the matter has been reported to local police in the US demanding justice for the victim.
Damanveer (deceased) hailed from Manko village of Adampur district in Punjab and was the only child to his parents. His father Purshottam Dhillon said that his son went to Australia in 2006 for education and later migrated to the USA closer to his relatives. Subsequently, Damanveer got married to one Ratanpreet Kaur in February 2013 in America itself. The two also have a 5-year-old daughter.
Dhillon has accused his daughter-in-law’s behaviour to be responsible for his son ending his life.
Divorce & Alimony Finalised, Husband Was In Depression
Speaking from California, Damanveer’s uncle Harjinder Singh informed Dainik Bhaskar,
The couple had visited India in 2016 for attending a marriage ceremony. They got into fights to an extent where police had to also intervene. Even after returning to the US, the couple did not get along and thus decided to file for divorce. All settlement details, including division of property, were finalised.
According to the uncle of the victim, the couple once again fought last week, where the wife decided to return to her father’s home in Los Angeles. Divorce papers were already ready, however, Damanveer had slipped into depression. Local police in the US is now investigating the matter in detail.
