Crime Has No Gender. The same has been yet again proven with a shocking incident reported from Lohoner village in Nashik, Maharashtra, where a woman tried to burn her boyfriend alive, by throwing petrol over his body. A case has been registered against the woman and her family at the Deola police station in this regard and all accused have been arrested.
Case:
Gorakh Kashinath Bachhav, a plumber by profession, was in touch with a woman from Rawalgaon since the past three years. The relationship turned into love and soon Gorakh started requesting his girlfriend for marriage. However, the woman’s family was against this, which led to the dispute.
Efforts were made for settling the matter and the woman’s family arrived at Lohoner on Friday at around 1.30pm. Unfortunately, there was no amicable outcome and the woman’s family even thrashed Gorakh with an iron rod and stick. Infact, his girlfriend whom he wanted to marry, threw petrol over his body and lit him up with a match stick.
Gorakh suffered nearly 35% of burns and was admitted to Nashik District Hospital for treatment.
The police soon arrived at the spot, which saved Gorakh’s life. According to doctors, the victim is now stable.
Police Statement
Gokul Sonawane (23), Gokul Tongal Sonawane (57), Nirmala Gokul Sonawane (52), Hemant Gokul Sonawane (30) and Prasad Gokul Sonawane of Rawalgaon district have been arrested in this case. Police are investigating the matter by interrogating the woman and her brother, who tried to burn Gorakh alive.
The victim was jointly attacked by the woman and her family, as they opposed marriage.
If a man in India refuses marriage after consensual relationship, his partner can charge him with rape. However, when genders are reversed, men are left with no recourse, while families of women even dare to take law in their hands, like in the situation above.
