A doctor committed suicide by shooting himself with a firearm in his house in Saket Mithila in Jawaharnagar on Monday afternoon in Hyderabad.
Dr Ravindra Kumar, the deceased, was the managing director of a multi-speciality hospital in the city. The doctor is said to have ended his life by shooting himself with his licensed gun after an alleged fight with his wife on Monday.
Dr Ravindra, the MD of Shri Adithya Hospitals in Dammaiguda, lived in a duplex house at Saket Mithila gated community in Kapra with his wife, Dr Smitha and 12-year-old son. According to the Jawaharnagar police, Dr Ravindra asked his wife to accompany him for a house-warming ceremony.
However, ,after a heating argument and quarrel between the two, the wife refused to accompany him. Later, the doctor’s wife left for her parents’ house at around 11pm along with their son. According to the police,

Dejected over the turn of events, the anaesthetist decided to take the extreme step and shot himself with the firearm.
Police also narrated how the husband laid down on his bed in the master bedroom and shot himself in his temple from the left side. The bullet pierced right through resulting in instant death. Police estimate that the incident might have happened after 2am on Monday. Jawaharnagar inspector P. Bikshapathi Reddy said,
His wife, Dr. Smitha, along with their 12-year-old son had gone to her parents’ house in Dilsukhnagar and at 2am he spoke to his son over the phone. It looks like he resorted to the extreme step after 2am.
Dr Ravindra was supposed to attend a surgery on Monday at 6am. His staff tried to reach him however when calls to him went unanswered, they dialled his sibling. Upon reaching his residence, his sister forcefully opened the door and was shocked to find her brother Dr Ravindra lying in a pool of blood. The gun was recovered from the scene.
One of the hospital staff members told media that the couple seemed to be happy with each other and they had studied together as well at the same Kakatiya Medical College in Warangal.
A case of suspicious death has been registered.
