When we talk of Gender Equality, somehow society hails the term whenever a woman takes advantage of biased laws in her favour. A video from Kanpur has gone viral where a woman is seen beating up her estranged husband right in the middle of a public road.
In the video, the woman is seen beating up the man with slippers. While the local people immediately gather to check why she is doing so, she claims that her husband has allegedly cheated on her.
As per reports, the victim Vipin Kumar, is a resident of Panki, Kanpur who was sitting in a restaurant with a woman friend on Sunday. His wife came to know of the meeting and confronted him at the restaurant with her brothers in tow. The group then beat up Vipin, hitting him with slippers and also pulling his hair.
The woman alleged that her husband was involved with multiple women. She claimed that a case of cheating and harassment had also been filed against him with the Kanpur police.
Bystanders took videos of this thrashing and posted them on social media. Later a group of men intervened and took Vipin aside questioning him what the matter was. It is then Vipin said that he was having a domestic dispute case pending against his wife since past 10-years.
After the incident, Vipin filed a complaint with the local police.
The Kanpur police has initiated a probe into the matter and assured that appropriate action will be taken once a proper investigation is conducted. On other hand, Vipin has accused the police of siding with his wife. He says that he and his wife have been living separately and a case is pending between the couple since long.
Such visuals, if the genders were reversed, would have been a matter of debate and publicly naming and shaming the man. The woman surely has the option of a legal route if she claims of any wrong done to her. However, under no circumstances the society should justify her or her family taking the law in their hand and thrashing the man.

Blogging about Equal Rights for Men or writing about Gender Biased Laws is often looked upon as controversial, as many 'perceive' it Anti-Women. Due to this grey area - where we demand Equality in the true sense for all genders - most brands distance themselves from advertising on a portal like ours.
